Yasa Shipping offloads newbuilding to TMC
A week ago in the handysize sector, brokers reported the rare sale of the Jiangmen Nanyang-built, 40,000 dwt sized bulker named Yasa Daisy, a ship that was only delivered to Turkey’s Yasa Shipping in January this year. Brokers reported that the handysize bulker fetched $34m, a new benchmark. It has now been revealed who was willing to pay the high price for this five-month-old ship: TMC Shipping from the United Arab Emirates, a tanker and bulker owner with 12 similar-sized ships in its fleet list.
Yasa Daisy was the sixth in a series of 10 vessels commissioned from the same yard by Yasa.
Yasa is also reported selling a sister ship, Yasa Violet, which delivered in March this year although no taker has been revealed for this even younger vessel.
