Topaz orders two additional module carriers at Vard
Norwegian offshore shipbuilder Vard Holdings has secured a contract for the design and construction of two module carrier vessels for Topaz Energy and Marine.
Topaz Energy and Marine placed an order of 15 module carrier vessels at Vard in May.
One of the additional vessels will be built at Vard Braila and one at Vard Vung Tau. Delivery of both vessels is scheduled in the second quarter of 2018 and the total contract value is about $40m.
The vessels are designed to navigate the shallow river systems in order to transport modules through the Russian waterways to oilfields in Kazakhstan, and will be operated by Topaz through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping.
