Shelf Drilling scores Nigerian double
Oslo-listed jackup rig operator Shelf Drilling has won contracts for two units offshore Nigeria.
The 1981-built and 2014-upgraded Adriatic I has been fixed to an unnamed client for 16 months. The deal will keep the unit busy until February 2025.
Meanwhile, the 2010-built Shelf Drilling Mentor has been secured for eight months and will be utilised until June 2024.
Both rigs came off their previous contracts in September and are set to start their new campaigns in October.
The combined contract value for the two rigs has been estimated at about $93m, excluding mobilisation and demobilisation.
Founded in 2012, Dubai-based Shelf has one of the largest jackup fleets, with 36 units operating across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, India, West Africa, the Mediterranean and the North Sea.
