Qatargas inks 22-year LNG supply deal with PetroChina
Qatargas has entered into an agreement on a 22-year LNG supply deal with PetroChina to supply around 3.4m tonnes of LNG to the latter annually.
According to Qatargas, it will supply LNG from the Qatargas 2 project, which is jointly developed by Qatar Petroleum, Exxon Mobil Corp and Total, to receiving terminals across China, with the first cargo to be delivered this month.
The company will utilise its Q-Flex and Q-Max LNG carriers to deliver the LNG to multiple terminals including Dalian, Jiangsu, Tangshan and Shenzhen.
China is increasing its imports of LNG as part of its clean power strategy. Last year, China imported a record 38.1m tonnes of LNG, up 46% year-on-year.
