Oman Shipping Company launches VLCC chartering desk
Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has launched a new commercial chartering desk for its fleet of VLCC tankers.
The new chartering setup up follows the withdrawal of 15 VLCCs last December from the VL8 pool run by Navig8 in Singapore. The 15 vessels are now commercially managed by Oman Charter Company, giving OSC full commercial control of the VLCCs.
Tariq Al Junaidi, CEO of Oman Shipping Company, commented: “Bringing the management of our VLCC fleet in-house gives us greater autonomy, and ultimately enables us to direct the operation with greater control. The VLCC fleet is set to play a large role in the future growth of the company. We are satisfied that vessels are now within the correct chartering structure to maximize their potential.”
OSC has already signed a contract of affreightment with Shell giving it a substantial cargo base for the VLCCs.
