Okeanis suezmax damaged in Suez Canal scrap
A two-month old suezmax, owned by Alafouzos family company Okeanis Eco Tankers, has damaged its hull while transiting the Suez Canal.
The Japanese-built Kimolos, laden with 147,441 MT of fuel oil, scraped the bottom of the canal while under pilotage during a southbound transit yesterday afternoon.
There were no injuries to the 23 crew members or pollution from the incident, however damage to the hull of the vessel was reported. The ship is currently continuing to transit, under its own power, and heading to a safe anchorage for inspections.
