Northern Offshore bags work for jackup rig offshore Oman
Houston-based jackup owner Northern Offshore, a 91.81% subsidiary of Rex International, has won a multi-well deal offshore Oman for one of its rigs.
The drilling program will be undertaken in Masirah Oil’s Yumna field in Block 50 off Oman. It will consist of the drilling and completion of a new in-field well and the workover of two existing production wells. Work on the project will begin in mid-March 2024.
The job on Block 50, fully owned and operated by Masirah Oil, will be done using the Energy Emerger jackup drilling rig. The jackup is of a CJ46 jack-up design with a maximum operating water depth of 114 meters and a maximum drilling depth of 9,120 meters.
“We are very appreciative of the support and assistance from the Oman Ministry of Energy and Minerals, enabling us to secure the rig in a tight supply environment,” said Mike Hopkinson, general manager of Masirah Oil.
