
Navig8 tanker attacked off Muscat
Another tanker has been attacked while transiting the Middle East. The product tanker Navig8 Providence was approached early yesterday morning by a skiff with six armed men some 60 nautical miles east of Muscat. Armed guards onboard exchanged fire with the assailants who then fleed. The crew and the ship were unharmed and the fully laden vessel is now ready to transit the Suez Canal.
“The alarm raised and non-essential crew retreated to the citadel. Speed increased, evasive maneuvers conducted and onboard armed security team fired warning shots resulting in the skiffs moving away. A mother vessel was seen in the vicinity. Vessel is safe,” the International Maritime Bureau report said.
On Wednesday another tanker had three RPGs fired at it while transiting the the southern Bab-Al-Mandeb Strait.
