National Iranian Tanker Company eyes 25 tankers
National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) is ready to return to the international market as soon as the sanctions against the country are lifted, and the company is planning to acquire more vessels to optimize the fleet, Ali-Akbar Safaei, managing director of NITC, said in a press conference yesterday.
Accoding to Safaei, sanctions on the company will be lifted in the first stage of implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“Removal of the sanctions will create a very good condition for the Iranian shipping fleet to develop in the post-sanctions time,” Safaei said, adding that the company is looking to buy or build up to 25 modern tankers to optimize the fleet.
“As the largest tanker company in the world and by enjoying over $3.5bn of capital as well as good experience and global reputation, we could be a reliable partner for the large foreign companies active in the fields of LNG, FLNG, and FPSO. We have already negotiated with a number of companies from France, Belgium and Germany in these fields,” he said.
