
Lila Global sells boxship
United Arab Emirates-based Lila Global is halving its container arm, selling an 18-year-old, 1,118 teu containership named Lila Canada for a price brokers put in the low $6ms.
The feeder has changed hands a number of times in recent years. It was added as Valencia Elizabeth last year. Prior to that it was called Songa Lynx for 10 months during the container boom of 2021.
Earlier this month, Splash reported Lila Global, the shipowning arm of recycler GMS, had sold the 20-year-old Lila Frontier, a 19,000 dwt chemical tanker, with the Steve Kunzer-led outfit profiting about $4m on the deal.
Lila Global has been involved in 11 ship deals so far this year, according to data from VesselsValue.
