Lila Global offloads 2004-built tanker
Dubai-based Lila Global’s run rate of a ship deal a month shows no sign of slowing.
The shipowning sister firm of ship recycling giant GMS has snapped up bulk carriers, tankers, and MPP vessels over the past couple of years, latterly turning to selling rather than buying.
This week, it is making a rare move in the smaller sizes, attempting to sell one-third of its tanker arm.
Brokers note that undisclosed buyers have snapped up the 19,000 dwt Lila Frontier (2004) for around $16m, with the Steve Kunzer-led outfit profiting about $4m on the deal.
VesselsValue now counts 35 ships in Lila’s fleet, roughly valued at around $580m.
