Lila Global adds second MPP

Dubai-based Lila Global has expanded its fleet with a large secondhand heavylift multipurpose vessel, which it says will further boost its capacity and versatility.

The shipowning arm of Anil Sharma’s cash-buying giant Global Marketing Systems (GMS) has welcomed the 2003-built Lila Mombasa after picking it up at action for $7.5m.

The Dalian New Yard-built 30,300 dwt was previously owned by Shanghai Minsheng Shipping and known as Wujiang.

The Steve Kunzer-led outfit owns nearly 40 ships, around 30 of which are bulkers. The Lila Mombasa is the second MPP in the company’s fleet, in addition to the 2003-built Lila Mumbai, acquired in 2020.

The latest fleet addition follows a series of capesize transactions that kicked off last year and several tanker sales.
