Korean car carrier released by Libyan militants
The Morning Compass, a car carrier controlled by South Korea’s Eukor, has been released by Libyan militants and is now sailing to Germany.
The ship was seized on Saturday in eastern Libyan waters with local militants claiming it had entered a barred military area. The crew were unharmed and the ship will now head with its cargo of more than 5,000 Korean-built cars to its final destination in northern Germany.
Libya has been in a six-year long civil war with a number of ships targeted in recent years.
