Iran and Kazakhstan form shipping JV
Iran and Kazakhstan have formed a joint venture shipping line, designed to funnel cargoes from Central Asia down to Iran’s southern coastline where a number of ports are under construction.
Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and Kazakhstan’s state-owned railway company have just formed the company, following an initial agreement signed in April last year.
Iran has a history of forming joint venture lines, most notably, Irano-Hind, a collaboration between IRISL and Shipping Corporation of India.
