Houthis issue chilling video of latest ship strike
The Houthi rebels have released a video of the most recent attack using an unmanned watercraft on a Liberia-flagged oil tanker Chios Lion in the Red Sea.
The video shows an unmanned vessel doing damage to the tanker’s port side. They did several attacks on the vessel and another ship sailing some 100 nautical miles northwest of Hodeidah, Yemen.
According to a statement on Tuesday by the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC), the damage on the tanker was being assessed with a potential oil spill also being considered.
The JMIC added that, while originally headed south, the vessel turned around and headed north out of the threat area following the attack. The captain and crew of the Stealth Maritime-managed vessel were not harmed during the attack.
The Houthis claimed that Monday’s attacks on the Chios Lion and the Bentley I tankers were done with ballistic missiles, drones, and booby-trapped boats. This was done in response to Saturday’s Israeli airstrike on the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis.
