Fleet clear-out accelerates at Gulf Energy Maritime
United Arab Emirates-based Gulf Energy Maritime has disposed of four LR1 tankers.
The 17-ship strong tanker specialist has let go of three ten-year-old 75,000 dwt tankers, the Gulf Cobalt, Gulf Crystal and Gulf Castle for $17.8m each, and the three years older Gulf Stream for $10.4m, broking sources tell Splash.
Two different Greek buyers are reported as takers of the Korean-built tankers. Gulf Energy Maritime sold another two LR2 114,900 dwt tankers in a $64m deal in February, exiting this sector. The remaining ships are all panamax sized down to handysize tankers.
