DP World to operate container terminal in St John, Canada

Dubai port operator DP World said it has signed a lease agreement to expand and operate the multipurpose Rodney container terminal in St John, New Brunswick in Canada.

The long-term lease will become effective on January 1, 2017, and will involve DP World working in partnership with the port authority of St John.

The expansion programme is expected to be complete in 2021, DP World said in a release. It will include creation of a 350m deep-water berth, an enhanced stacking area and a 12,000-foot intermodal rail yard.

DP World already operates other terminals in Canada: the CENTERM terminal in Vancouver; the Fairview Terminal in Prince Rupert; and the Duke Point Terminal in Nanaimo.
