Dolphin Geophysical wins Black Sea seismic survey contract
Dolphin Geophysical, part of GC Rieber, is to undertake a seismic data acquisition and processing contract for Black Sea Oil & Gas and its partners in Romanian waters in the Black Sea.
The company did not disclose the duration or value of the contract, which includes the provision of a “fast-track” 3D volume for the client and will employ Dolphin’s 16-streamer vessel Polar Marquis, which will tow a high-resolution multistreamer configuration.
“In this challenging market we’re pleased to see that clients value our highly advanced assets and our ability to adapt to specific needs, together with the high-quality acquisition and processing services delivered by Dolphin Geophysical,” Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Dolphin, said in a filing.
Bucharest-based Black Sea Oil & Gas is backed by the Carlyle Group and has been developing itself as an offshore exploration and production (E&P) company within the Romanian Black Sea since being established in 2015.
In late December, the company and its joint-venture partners in the Midia Gas Development, Petro Ventures Europe and Gas Plus International, signed a cooperation agreement with S.N.T.G.N. Transgaz, the technical operator of the national natural gas transmission system (NTS) in Romania. Under the agreement, the parties will aim to connect the XV Midia Block on the Romanian continental shelf with the country’s NTS.
