Aswan swoops for another Japanese post-panamax bulker
Qatar limestone specialist Aswan Trading and Contracting has acquired another Japanese-built post-panamax bulker, according to brokers.
Advanced Shipping & Trading are reporting that Aswan has acquired the 2002-built Tatsuki Maru from Hachiuma Steamship, paying low to mid $8m for the Imabari Marugame-built vessel. The price is in line with MSI’s valuation of $8.4m.
Splash reported last month that Aswan forked out a little over $11m to Korea’s Hyundai Glovis for the 2004-built post-panamax Glovis Donghae.
Aswan will have a fleet of four vessels upon completion of the deals, with one handysize bulker and one post-panamax bulker currently on its books.
