Ashdod port fined for sulfur spill

Israel’s Environmental Protection Ministry is fining the Ashdod Port Company NIS2.7m ($600,000) for marine pollution infractions, following a contamination incident involving sulfur.

In July, ministry inspectors said they discovered a large sulfur spill emanating from a ship at the port. Port workers have been blamed for the spill.
